Our Programs
The various programs we offer are summarized below. For further questions, please call House Manager, Peggy White at (828) 360-2064 between 5:30pm - 9:00pm.
Emergency Overnight
We provide families, men, and women with temporary shelter. Our goal is to help those we shelter return to the community as productive members as soon as possible. We provide our guests with physical, emotional, and spiritual support, which includes help with developing and prioritizing goals.
The following are needed for admission.
- A Photo Identification
- Must be able to pass a drug screen
- Be willing and able to do chores
- Pass a background check
- No sex offenders accepted at any time
- Must be willing to abide by all rules
Extended Stays
The house manager may grant an extended stay to an individual or family that demonstrates progress made toward their goals. Anyone desiring to stay at the shelter longer than 90 days must be recommended by the house manager and approved by a member of the oversight committee. These individuals should be prepared for greater responsibility regarding chores and volunteering, self-development and community building goals.
"Code Purple"
On severe cold weather nights, it is extremely dangerous to be sleeping out in the cold. On these nights we issue a "Code Purple" (a noticeable banner will be at the top of each webpage). This indicates that we are opening the common area of the shelter to allow people to take cover without the usual screenings. We provide a clean environment with food and drinks available. We ask those needing “Code Purple” to please arrive between 5:30pm - 9pm. After 9pm, please check with the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office or Murphy Police Department as they may accompany you to the shelter. For questions, please call 828-644-4968.
